
Alyssa and Athena Lobit’s Independent Film Plays at Local Festivals: San Diego Asian Film Fest (Oct. 18 & 22) and Hollywood Film Fest (Oct. 25)

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 7, 2009 -- THE THINGS WE CARRY World Premiered at the 25th Annual Boston Film Festival on Sept. 21, 2009. Inspired by a true story, The Things We Carry marks the feature debut of Korean-American filmmakers, the Lobit Sisters: Alyssa, Writer and Actress, Athena, Producer. Directed by veteran Ian McCrudden, the films stars newcomer Alyssa Lobit, Alexis Rhee (Crash), Catherine Kresge (Ball Don't Lie), Daniel Zacapa (Se7en), Ilene Graff (Mr. Belvedere) and Johnny Whitworth (CSI: Miami, Gamer).
When her drug-addict mother dies, Emmie returns home. Traveling through the underbelly of suburbia looking for a package from her mother, she reconnects with her estranged sister Eve. This journey exposes old wounds and forces the sisters to confront each other about their different approaches to life.
The film is one of the first independent features shot with the cutting edge RED ONE camera, favored by filmmakers such as Steven Soderbergh and Peter Jackson. Female-driven both in front of and behind the camera, The Things We Carry will be screening at the San Diego Asian Film Festival on Oct. 18 and Oct. 22, and the Hollywood Film Festival on Oct. 25.
